When Mark suddenly dies in a car accident, his best friend Jeff is left to tie up the loose ends as he mourns. As Jeff uses Mark's computer, sending out emails to friends informing them of Mark's passing, he meets Andrea, Mark's Italian online boyfriend. As the two correspond, they strike up an instant rapport. On a whim, Jeff convinces Andrea to travel and meet him as he had previously planned with Mark. Jeff and Andrea spend time getting to know each other but find themselves talking more about Mark, each attempting to gain a sense of closure in their shared grief. CIAO is a beautiful, subtle, poignant and honest film that explores the often difficult path from closure and endings to the hope of new beginnings.
