It’s undeniable that a lot of our fellow PLUs (People Like Us) enjoy pampering. Fact is, most of us work like crazy, trying to prove our worth, and in the process earning a decent amount of money for our family and for ourselves. Once in a while, we get that feeling of entitlement towards the moolah we earn — “I deserve some pampering.” Work hard, play hard. I guess this is the fundamental driver of the “Male Massage” industry. Well, at lest that’s my take. A movie, “Heavenly Touch” uses this industry as a backdrop. And on the foreground? These:
Nursing student RODEL (Paolo Serrano) supports his schooling by working nights as a masseur at the Heavenly Touch Spa, which offers more than massage to its mostly gay clientele. When he discovers that JONARD (Joash Balejado), a former classmate for whom he has secret romantic feelings, is in dire need of a job, RODEL teaches him basic massage skills and brings him to the spa.
Immediately, the reluctant JONARD discovers that, contrary to its name, the spa is a hellish place ruled by a vicious ex-cop, SIR TONG (Jeffrey Santos). The jolly and maternal spa manager, MAMA ORANGE (Jim Pebanco), makes up for the owner’s cruelty even as he treats SIR TONG with abject devotion.
SIR TONG has a fair-haired boy among the masseurs, BIBOY (Marco Morales), his trusted lieutenant in his illegal drug business. BIBOY takes a liking to JONARD, much to RODEL’s distaste. Soon, RODEL’s affections for JONARD can no longer be denied.
JONARD finds financial relief in dispensing massage and extra service to his gay clients. Suddenly, there’s hope for his fight against the impending foreclosure on his family’s home. RODEL also eagerly contributes his own earnings to the cause, especially the tidy sums he receives from a very generous home-service client, the lovely SHEILA (Gwen Garci).
Amidst the spa’s oppressive state of affairs and JONARD’s bleak domestic situation, romance blooms between him and RODEL.
Unfortunately, RODEL gets a terrible beating when he and SHEILA are caught in flagrante delicto by her politician benefactor. With RODEL sidelined by his injuries, JONARD has no one to turn to when his financial problem escalates. JONARD succumbs to BIBOY’s overtures, setting off a series of events that culminates in a violent confrontation between SIR TONG and RODEL.
Heavenly Touch tells the story of Rodel (Paolo Serrano) and Jonard (Joash) who are masseurs at the Heavenly Touch SPA owned by a stern former policeman named Sir Tong (Jeffrey Santos) and managed by the colorful Mama Orange (Jim Pebangco). Jonard's financial situation worsens when his mortgaged home faces foreclosure; he then resorts to dispensing special services to the SPA's gay clientele so he can have extra income. Rodel who secretly loves Jonard, helps by contributing the fees that he receives from servicing the insatiable Sheila (Gwen Garci), a politician's mistress.
The film stars Paolo Serrano, Gwen Garci, Marco Morales and newcomer Joash Balejado. Marami ang naniniwala na mas magandang follow-up pa sa last year's DMV Entertainment produced film na Walang Kawala ang Heavenly Touch.
Definitely, there are lots of intimate scenes among the cast like romantic love scenes of Paolo and Joash, the disturbing intimate scene between Marco and Jaoash, and the very sensual threesome of Gwen, Paolo and Joash that took place inside a cramped bathroom.
Ang Heavenly Touch ay nagpo-focus sa dalawang masseurs named Rodel and Jonard (played respectively by Paolo and Joash). They are best friends whom, not knowing, on the brink of a sizzling romance. Something just came up nang magkaroon ng malaking financial problem si Jonard and got involved with another masseur named Biboy (played by Marco) kunsaan, connected naman ito sa isang drug syndicate. And Rodel got involved with Sheila, isang mistress ng isang politician.
When Direk Joel was asked why he chose Heavenly Touch as his follow-up from Walang Kawala, Direk Joel says, "We wanted a film that was also dramatic but on a more intimate scale, but without sacrificing the cinematic values, The spa is a very popular place these days. Practically everyone goes there at least once a week. It's an intriguing environment that holds many potential--and secrets. I am very happy that the audience appreciated our movie, It feels great."
Ayon sa producer ng movie na si Manny Valera, who was very happy with the positive feedback, revealed that Heavenly Touch is also scheduled to have an international release. Aniya, "Just like Walang Kawala, it has gotten numerous sales inquiries through our North America based-agent, and Heavenly Touch hasn't even been screened in Metro Manila yet. Sinabi rin niyang ang Walang Kawala, DMV's produced film last year was already distributed in France, Germany, U.S, Canada and other countries. At dahil marami ang nagkagusto sa una nilang film, many are already showing interest in their new film.
Heavenly Touch also stars Jeffrey Santos, Paolo Rivera, Jim Pebanco, Alchris Galura and Irma Adlawan.
