Une Petite Zone De Turbulences (A Spot Of Bother) 2010 French with soft English subtitles.
Based on the novel 'A Spot of Bother' by Mark Haddon, this is a French RomCom covering love and relationships in all of their forms - straight, gay, adulterous and from different generations. Jean-Paul is recently retired and a hypochondriac who believes that he has cancer. He is married to Anne who is secretly having an affair with one of Jean-Paul's previous colleagues, David. They have two children - Mathieu who is in a steady relationship with his boyfriend Olivier, and Cathie, a divorcee with a five years old son, who is about to marry Phillipe. Just to complicate things a little further, Mathieu detests Phillipe, regarding him as an 'F-Minus' type of man, and totally unfit to be his sister's new husband.
Cathie can't decide if she loves Phillipe, or just loves the wonderful way that he has with her son Hugo. Her mother Anne is a bit put out by all of the planning and arguing that the wedding has caused, and which gets in the way of her quite fulfilling, late-in-life love affair. The happyy and pleasant life that Mathieu has created with Olivier crumbles when he fails to invite his lover to the dreaded nuptials. Unnoticed in the midst of all of the uproar, Jean-Paul has discovered what he believes to be a cancerous lesion on his hip, and quietly begins to lose his mind.
The way these dysfunctional/damaged people fall apart, and then come back together is the subject of this disturbing yet very funny portrait of a dignified older man who, while thoroughly disapproving of all his family's life styles, tries his very best to go insane politely.
